Édouard Osoque Mendy (born 1 March 1992, Montivilliers, France) is a Senegalese international goalkeeper of Senegalese and Bissau-Guinean heritage. Raised in the Le Havre region, he began at Havre Caucriauville at age 7 and briefly passed through Le Havre AC’s academy before returning to local amateur football. He holds both French and Senegalese nationality and is a cousin of France defender Ferland Mendy.
In 2014, after Cherbourg’s administrative relegation, Mendy faced unemployment and registered at France’s job centre. Encouraged by his parents to persist, he earned a first professional contract with Marseille in 2015—a moment he recalls his mother celebrated with tears of joy.
